FODMAPs stands for Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols. These were discovered by researchers at Monash University and have been found to play a role in Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) symptoms. The low FODMAP diet has been scientifically proven to provide 75% of people with relief of their IBS type symptoms.

Symptoms of IBS include: abdominal pain, cramping, wind, bloating, constipation and/or diarrhoea.

By eliminating foods that are high in FODMAPs, symptoms of IBS can resolve within a matter of weeks. This is referred to as following a low FODMAP diet.

Our dietitians have extensive experience in IBS and will help you:
  • Follow the 3 step FODMAP diet correctly
  • Maintain a diet that is nutritionally adequate
  • Re-establish your gut microbiome after Step 3
  • Provide you strategies to help you navigate food shopping, meal planning, cooking, travelling, and socialising
