Mediterranean Diet
Mediterranean Diet
The Mediterranean diet is the most studied diet in the world with ongoing research and evidence on its significant health benefits compared to any other diet. It is based on the traditional eating patterns of people in Greece, Crete, Southern France, and Italian regions which border the Mediterranean Sea.
The diet has been shown to improve heart health, reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, fatty liver, chronic kidney disease, depression, anxiety and breast, prostate and bowel cancers. It also can protect against cognitive decline including dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease.
How our dietitians can help with a Mediterranean diet:
- helping you meet the principles of an authentic Mediterranean diet including the lifestyle aspects
- educating on how to set up a Mediterranean pantry, fridge and freezer
- sharing recipes and providing tips to modify your recipes to adopt a more Mediterranean style of eating
